Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin are happy to announce that we are now an official host in the volunteer program, Workaway. Serious gardeners may be able to volunteer at Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin in exchange for room, part board and Torah learning program!

Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin welcomes female volunteers who are interested in working in our organic garden 15-20 hours a week in the afternoon and participate in our learning program during the mornings. Classes in Torah and Hebrew learning skills take place from Sunday – Thursday. The work consists of all year round weeding as well as planting vegetables and flowers, and when applicable picking fruits, making jam, fruit rollups, pickles and more. Those who are interested may be able to work in landscaping, soil improvement as well as building terraces and prune bushes and trees. We also need volunteers to take care of the chickens and are open to new ideas for improving our gardens and living spaces.

Volunteers will receive their own room with inbuilt AC/heater, sharing a trailer with two bedrooms and a bathroom with only one other student. Additionally, they will live close to the serene beautiful nature in the heart of the Judean hills and be part of the unique spiritual artsy community of Bat Ayin. The grounds of Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin radiate a healthy living atmosphere and include an organic orchard, vegetable garden, greenhouse, composting pile and chicken coop. Gardening classes assist students to develop skills in growing vegetables, fruits and herbs in order to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and herbal healing practices. Students work in the garden and enjoy the fruits of their labors in the fresh organic produce that they harvest and eat! The program includes a weekly herbal workshop, which imbues students with the awareness of the inherent healing properties of plants growing right at their doorstep. Students get first-hand experience as they demonstrate by example, the Torah of bal tashchit, (avoiding waste) Global consciousness and Ecology.

Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin is a holistic learning center for Jewish women and conversion candidates that integrate mind, body and soul. We utilize not only traditional teaching methods such as lectures, study partners and group discussions, but also encourage our students to express their textual learning in creative exploration through drama, music and art, as well as movement workshops and agricultural cultivation. We actively encourage a love for Eretz Yisrael, through gardening, nature hikes and herbal wisdom. Connecting to the Land, by actually working the land, is a major aspect of our institution. The unique Bat Ayin community comprises scholars, artists and farmers, who warmly open their homes and hearts to the students and volunteers of Midreshet B’erot Bat Ayin.
