"I've seen quite a bit of life already, so I wasn't too keen on living in a dorm setting. But now, I feel truly privledged to have been a part of this wonderful community of women."

"The rabbi and staff are so caring . . . I had to work hard to get through the conversion process, but I knew I always had their support, whether I needed help understanding a letter from Misrad Hapnim or a shoulder to cry on. They were always there for me."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time commitment?

The average length of the course is one year. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis.

What are the requirements to enroll?

In order to enroll in the conversion course the student needs to have had intensive contact with a Jewish community for one year. The conversion candidate will need several letters of recommendation from rabbis and others who will affirm her prior involvement with a Jewish community. Among the letters of recommendation, at least two letters must be from orthodox rabbis who can testify to the sincerity of the student's commitment to Judaism. With these letters the conversion candidate will be able to open a conversion file with the Chief Rabbinate of Conversion in Jerusalem and obtain a conversion visa.

What is the aim of the program?

The aim of this conversion course is to enable conversion candidates to go through an Orthodox conversion process recognized by the strictest authorities in Israel. Our program will allow women to be part of a serious Torah environment and study in a natural and enjoyable learning atmosphere. With Hashem's help, she will be guided in the ways of Jewish life all the way to the mikvah and beyond.

What does the program include?

The program includes four mornings per week of classes, afternoon electives in Chassidut, gardening, meditative movement and creative arts, rabbinic counseling and supervision, and community service.

The supervising rabbi and our staff facilitate the bureaucratic aspects of conversion in Israel, helping to arrange meetings with the Beit Din and the Interior Ministry as needed.

Students live on campus in modest dormitories. Each student receives her own room, sharing a bathroom and small living space with one other student. There are four lunches served each week while classes are in session, and a fully-equipped dairy kitchen is available for students to make their own meals.

Does every student convert?

B'not Ruth will provide guidance and instructions to prepare the student for conversion. We cannot guarantee actual conversion after completion of the one-year course. Conversion depends on the student’s suitability according to our recommendation and the Rabbinical Court’s final decision.
