Wheat Festival

Rosh Chodesh Sivan, June 8th

Our 3rd Annual Summer Wheat Festival was a smashing success!

Twenty-five students and women from Yerushalayim, Ramat Bet Shemesh, Efrat, Tekoa and Bat Ayin joined us for an amazing day of learning, harvesting, praying and making challah.

Rebbetzin Chana Bracha began the program with the final steps of preparing the dough. She spoke of the significance of each ingredient, such as yeast, which represents creativity. "Our bubbling creativity can be used to serve HaShem, or to serve the yetzer hara'a. The Torah is the antedote to the yetzer hara'a."

Chana Frazin, an alumna of B'erot, was given the honor of taking challah, but first, we prayed for the residents of Gush Katif and the shlemut of Eretz Yisrael.

We then joined together for a musical Hallel, after which each woman had the opportunity to practice the art of challah braiding.

After heading down to Amnon's wheat field to harvest our own wheat, we were given a tour of the wheat mill.

We returned to B'erot for a wholesome, delicious lunch with our own freshly-baked challah!
